Who exactly decided that some jobs or positions are “off-limits” for women?

Society has this THING for throwing stereotypes around, especially when you’re on the brink of doing something big or a little outside the box. 

You know already: someone always has an opinion on what women should and shouldn’t do, even if they’ve never been in your shoes a day in their life. But all that noise? It doesn’t deserve any space in your head.

Criticism is Like Background Music: Tune It Out

The moment you start making moves, it’s almost guaranteed that someone, somewhere, will have a comment about it. It’s like society’s unwanted soundtrack: “Are you sure that’s for you?” or “Wow, that’s a lot for a woman.” It’s ridiculous, but it’s real. And it can really wear you down if you let it.

Treat those comments like you would leave a song on repeat in the background at a store. You don’t have to focus on it, you just let it play and keep moving. Because if you let every little comment and critique knock you off your game, then the only person missing out is you.

Self-Doubt Will Show Up… and That’s Okay

Even without the critics, sometimes the loudest doubts come from within. Self-doubt is like that annoying friend who shows up uninvited and overstays. You might question your abilities, wonder if you’re “qualified enough,” or worry that you’re somehow not ready.

So, laugh it off. Imagine you're on a reality show and there’s an invisible audience rooting for you. Give them something to cheer about.

Fear has a way of creeping in when things get real. Just when you’re about to take a big step, that nagging thought shows up: “What if this all goes sideways?” Fear loves to swoop in at the last second and give you a million reasons to stay in your comfort zone.

But remember, nothing exciting happens in the comfort zone. The most thrilling moments in life happen when you step beyond what feels safe. It’s like diving into the deep end, scary at first, but eventually, you realize you can swim. 

So when fear shows up, say, “Thanks for the warning, but I’m doing this anyway.”

Look, being brave doesn’t mean you’re free of fear. It just means you’re willing to show up despite the fear. Think about it: even if things don’t go perfectly, you’re still making progress. 

The worst feeling isn’t failing; it’s wondering what could have happened if you’d just tried.

Sometimes, you just have to jump in, messy bun and all, and do it afraid. It might not look perfect, but hey, life rarely does. 

Just imagine how boring it would be if everything went as planned! The most memorable stories often come from the “I wasn’t sure what I was doing, but I did it anyway” moments.

People Will Always Have Opinions – Let Them

People will have opinions about you whether you’re winning or struggling.

Seriously, you could be saving kittens from trees, and someone out there will find a way to critique your approach. So, why waste your energy trying to please everyone?

The truth is; if people are going to talk anyway, let them talk. Give them something interesting to chat about. Live your life so that their words feel like background noise, a little static on your way to bigger things. Just imagine their faces when you hit those milestones. Sweet, right?

Make the Choice That Feels Right to You

At the end of the day, all these decisions are yours to make. Don’t let anyone else’s narrative write your story. Every time you make a choice that aligns with your passion, you’re investing in yourself. You’re saying, “I’m worth it, my dreams are worth it, and I’m here for the journey.”
